How They Do it in Brooklyn

From the Gotham Gazzette comes a story about how the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is assisting small businesses in Brooklyn obtain health insurance.

In 2004, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce started Brooklyn Health Works. Brooklyn Health Works is an insurance product available to Brooklyn businesses to help them obtain affordable health care for their employees.

Last week the Speaker of the Brooklyn City Council proposed expanding the program to Queens and Manhattan. The article details the program and some of the more interesting ideas include coverage for 1099 employees who work more than twenty hours per week.
