Great Article - Ten Insurance Tips

Tuesday March 25, 2008

Insurancenewsnet.com posted an excellent article today by Mark Garbowski entitled, Ten Insurance Tips For Corporate Counsel, Risk Managers and Executives. If you are corporate counsel, a risk manager or executive, it is a concise summary of some important things to remember when dealing with insurers.

Three important points raised in the article:

  • Consider Insurance Coverage After Every Loss - Any time there is a claim, loss or incident at your company, consider the possibility of insurance coverage. Talk to your agent and consider making a claim.
  • Challenge Denials of Coverage - When the insurer declines the claim, seek independent legal advice to determine if coverage is owed.
  • Do Not Refuse to Provide Information - When an insurer is investigating a claim, you have a duty to cooperate in accordance with the terms of the policy.
