America's Health Insurance Plans
I read an interesting article on U.S. Insurance News about a survey conducted by Harris Interactive. It concludes that little more than 50% of baby boomers have disability income insurance coverage protection while more than half acknowledge it is important and necessary to protect their family.
As is often the case, your intrepid Guide went to the horse's mouth. In this case I went to the America's Health Insurance Plans website. AHIP had sponsored the study. I would encourage you, if you are a small business owner struggling with health insurance decisions and issues to visit the site. Not because I particularly agree with the interests of a "national trade association representing nearly 1,300 member companies," but because the site provides some truly useful information.
Most interesting was the online guide to resolving health care appeals. It includes a list of all state health insurance appeals processes as well as a good faq file regarding health insurance appeals. It also has an extensive list of contact numbers for state insurance departments with links to the particular contact person responsible for the external appeal process.
Great source of information and entitled to a bookmark (hopefully in the same folder where my site is bookmarked).
