Going Naked
Blue Shield of California has launched a campaign in California targeted at raising awareness among Californians to the plight of the seven million uninsured in California.
Over one hundred naked bronze statues will be unveiled across California. The naked statutes symbolize people going "naked" or without health care. The statues will be placed in malls and public areas with associated information.
The company has also launched a website called "Let's Shield California." The site depicts some of the statues and gives some facts and figure regarding health care in California.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage politicians and California voters to consider realistic health care reform designed to provide affordable universal coverage to all citizens including the 800,000 uninsured children in California.
