Definition: An "additional insured" is a person or entity added to a business policy for purposes of coverage. This may be a temporary arrangement (contractor on a job adding the premises of the project until complete) or more permanent (tenant in a commercial building adding landlord).
Also Known As: named insured, additional named insured
Examples: By the terms of my lease, my landlord must be an additional insured on my property insurance.
