Readers Respond: Is a Public Option Health Insurance Plan Good or Bad for Small Business?

The public option health insurance plan is proposed as a part of health care reform. Such an option could be the only way small businesses can get health insurance or, alternatively, such an option could lead to a situation where private insurers cannot compete and small businesses would end up with less choice. What are your thoughts? Is a public health insurance option a help or hindrance to small businesses?

It would work for me I think

My small business can't get affordable insurance because my partner and I live in different states and make a little too much money for state subsidized plans. Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield takes advantage of that by raising our premiums every year as much as 20% per year. Family coverage is literally going to be $24,000/year in 2012. I'm not joking!
